A Cleaner’s Diary #1 : A Day in the Life of Kairos Clean & Cozy

This morning, I was all set for a busy day, ready to head out for my cleaning appointments. But I got a call from one of my regular clients, and she sounded unwell. She told me that she had woken up feeling sick and wouldn’t be able to keep our appointment for the day. I totally understood. No one can plan for getting sick, right? Sometimes you wake up feeling fine, and before you know it, you’re stuck in bed.

Even though she canceled on short notice, I didn’t charge her the cancellation fee. She's been a long-time client, and I know it wasn’t something she could control. We’ve built a good relationship over time, and I think it’s important to show some understanding when things like this happen.

Now, it was too late to take any other same-day appointments (since we do offer them), so I had some extra time in my schedule. Instead of just heading home, I decided to go by her place to check in. She lives alone, and I thought she could probably use some food since she wasn’t feeling well and might not have the energy to go out.

I picked up some fruits and snacks—just enough to help her get through the day. When I arrived at her door, she was surprised but so grateful. I handed her the bag of food, told her to take care of herself, and let her know I’d be back to clean when she was feeling better. It wasn’t about the cleaning today; it was just making sure she had a little something to help her get by.

She thanked me, and it felt good knowing I was able to help out, even in a small way. It’s moments like this that remind me why I love what I do. Sure, I lost a cleaning session today, but the trust and connection I’ve built with her mean so much more than a single booking. One missed session doesn’t really feel like a loss when it’s replaced with the kind of respect and care that comes from looking out for each other.

And I know that when she’s better, I’ll be back to do the cleaning
